At low load and during agin avarrsn (engine braking) a vacuum Prevails in the inlet manifold, whereupon the needle moves into the white zone. At higher pm and higher loads, the turbo: chargor creates an overpressure in the in- let manifold, and the needia enters the or- ange field. Normally the needle should not center the red fled, since a safety system limte the charging pressure and protects the engine, Under certain atnospheris conditions, the needle can enter the first part of the red zone without ary maitunction having oc: cured. Ht, however, the needle repeatedly onters thered zone and the engine simultaneously loses power (because the safety system ic limting the charging pressure), you should contact an authorised Saab dealer right away. it car speed exceeds 143 mph (230 km), acceleration is limited by lowering the charging pressure, whereupon the needle will ove towards the centre of the orange field. This reduces engine power and thus the speed of the car.
