Summary

A mother of four children

Lina and Carding were happy family living in Nueva Ecija. They had four

children, three girls and one boy. Their children were all intelligent and

beautiful. They got also ups and down in their lives. But nothing could let them

down forever. Because of their faith in God they survived everything.

Now, they lived in peace and contended in life. They believed in saying

that “the family that prays together lives happily ever after.”
 A Mother of Four Children

Episode I

Year 1980 in a far away place of Nueva Ecija, there lived a happy family.

The Delos Santos family. This family was just simple in all aspects. The father

was working as a government employee at the municipal hall in their town. The

mother was just a house wife. They have four children. Three girls and one boy.

The mother will do anything for her family. She does all the household

choice everyday. The father works five days a week. They bond every weekend

just for fun. Sometimes they go in the mall to window shopping and just eat

their favorite fast food.

One Saturday, they went to the mall and the youngest whose the only

boy in the family named Santino, asked his mother to buy him toy car, but the

toy car was so expensive and she told her son not to buy that toy car now but

she said next time she’ll going to buy it for him. So, Santino did not believed

his mother that she will buy it next time. He cried and cried until they reached

home. The next time they went again to the mall Santino asked again his

mother to buy the toy car for him and the mother had nothing to do but to buy

it for Santino. Santino was very happy that time. Because, at last he had the
toy car he wanted for a long time. He asked his mommy and said “ Thank you

mommy.”

One morning, as every mother does everyday, she woke up early to do all

that a mother does, like cooking, fixing the table for breakfast, bathing the

four children, let them eat their breakfast and send them to school. At four

o’clock she’ll fetch the children from school. At home she’ll does again her

household chores and help her children with their assignments.

The eldest of the four children was Sonia. Sonia asked help with her

mom about her assignment in Mathematics 4. She asked “mother what is 24

divided by 8?” and the mother answered 24 divided by 8 is 3. Wow, thankyou

so much mom. The mother told her eldest daughter Sonia that if she wants to

be a good student and always participate in class she must study well and

memorize the multiplication table in Mathematics, especially now that she’s in

grade four.

The second daughter was Donna. Donna is also a good daughter. She do

what her mother told her to do. She is in grade three and studying very well.

Unlike Sonia, Donna is just an average in all she does in her studies. Sonia

excels in her studies. She always got the top one in her class from kindergarten
up to grade three. Because she always thought what her mother told her to do,

when it comes to her studies.

Hanna, the third daughter was very lovable and kind. She’s now in

Kindergarten.

One day, Hanna told her mother that they have parents meeting in

school or PTA meeting. “Mommy you have to sign this consent about the PTA

meeting tomorrow. Our teacher told us if you will not attend the PTA meeting

she will not accept us in her class the next day. So you have to sign this,” “yes I

will sign that consent and I will attend the meeting ,” said mother. “Mommy

after the meeting, we go to my classmate’s birthday, Hannah said.” “Yes,

Hanna, so you could greet and you can play with you other classmates.” Said

Hanna’s mother. “But before we can go to your classmates birthday, you have

to fix your toys and bed”, said mother. “Okay I will,” said Hanna.
Episode II

Year 1990 Sonia graduated grade Six with honors. The Delos Santos

family celebrated Sonia’s graduation at their favorite fast food. Sonia’s mother

was very proud with what Sonia’s achievement.

“Mommy I promised you that I will study harder in my high school, so

you will be more proud of me”, said Sonia with her mother smiling. “Oh! I’m so

lucky to have you Sonia”, mother said to Sonia.

Four years after, Sonia graduated High School with High Honors. Her

mother was very proud. Because Sonia did her best and her promise to her

mother that she’ll do everything just to graduate High School with High Honors

and she did.

“Delos Santos, Sonia L. with High Honors her teacher called Sonia in the

graduation ceremony. Everybody clapped and smiled with Sonia.

Episode III

Sonia took accountancy in college. Because she had two more sisters

and one brother and life was not easy like before when they were just kids. Life

now was hard because of many things to attend and do, the father of the family

thought of going abroad particularly in Saudi Arabia.

“Lina, I think I have to ho abroad, our family need more in everything

like food, clothes and in school,” said Carding the father of Sonia. Do you think

that is better? Lina answered. “Yes, I need to work harder for the family,”

Carding exclaimed. “Okay, if that your decision, I will support you,” Lina said.

After two years of good salary of Carding in Saudi, the third years was

not as good as the first and second year. And so the family kept on what their

father’s small salary was.

One day, her youngest boy asked her mother to buy shoes for their

program in school.
 “Mommy, we have Nutrition Month Program, tomorrow but my shoes are

already old, can you buy me, new one?” Santino said to his mother. “Oh Marco

we cannot afford to buy you new shoes now because your father did not send

his salary for this month,” mother answered to Santino. Santino went to his

room crying. How sad Lina was. Because no mother want to see her child

crying. The family experienced that hardship in life within three years. So

mother Lina thought of something to earn a living.

“Sonia, I have to go to Manila to look for a good job,” Lina said to Sonia.

“Mommy, how about us, how are going to survive without you here and

Daddy?” Sonia told her mother crying. “We have to sacrifice, Sonia especially

you, now that you are fourth year college, you have to finish it. Mother Lina

exclaimed to Sonia.
Episode IV

Until such Sonia graduated in College with High Honors.

“Congratulations Sonia!” mother Lina said to Sonia. “I’m so very proud of you.”

After graduation Sonia looked for a job. Because she’s talented and

intelligent she found a good job in Manila.

“Mommy, now that I have a good job, you can now stop with your job and

look for my sisters and brother at home,” said Sonia to her mother.

One day, the family shocked because their father Carding, went home

from Saudi.

“Lina, I went home because there’s no future in Saudi. So, I decided to

work here in Philippines with you and our children,” said Carding to Lina. “It’s

okay, Carding, at least you’re here now with us. Yes, we will survive, with the

help of our Almighty God,” answered Lina to his husband.

Episode V

Sonia worked hard for her family. She doesn’t even thought of having a

boyfriend even once.

One time her office mate went to their home and asks permissions with

her parent that he wants to court their daughter Sonia.

“Good evening, Sir, Ma’am I want to ask permission to court your

daughter. I like Sonia, because she’s nice and beautiful. I hope I can come

again in your house to prove myself to Sonia,” Carlo said. “Yes, if your

intention for Sonia is good, why not?” said Carding and that was the start of

Sonia’s love life.

Because Carlo was serious and faithful to Sonia, he got finally Sonia’s

sweet yes. After two years of being boyfriend and girlfriend, Carlo proposed to

Sonia. And Sonia just say “YES” to Carlo.

“Will you marry me?” Carlo said to Sonia. “Yes,” Sonia answered. After

three months of preparation the got married.

Episode VI

Lina’s second daughter who’s Donna got also a good job because she

finished Computer Science in one of the Universities in Manila. She’s helping

their family in terms of financial. So, Lina doesn’t experienced hardship in life,

even though Carding her husband was no longer in Saudi.

“Lina, I’m so lucky to have you and our children, because when I was in

Saudi and you’re the only one who’s raising our children, you gave all you’ve

effort for them to grew nice and good and I love you for that,” said Carding. “I

will do all my best for my family,” answered Lina.

Hanna, the third daughter of Lina, graduated two year course in college.

Like, Donna, Hanna, works as a bar tender in one of the famous bar in Manila.

One day, Hanna said to her mother “Mommy, let’s go to the mall, this

time I will treat everybody.” “Oh, really? That’s great said Lina. I’m sure

Santino will surely enjoy later. Let’s go, let’s take a bath so we can get early

home,” mother said. “Yes mommy, I’m so excited,” answered Hannah smiling.
 The whole families go together and enjoyed the whole day.

“Mommy, I think we’ll do this once in a month, what do you think?”

asked Hanna with her mother. Yes, I think so we could bond and un wind once

in a month, answered Lina.

Episode VII

Years passed by, Lina’s three daughters were all had good job ang

earning so well. So her youngest boy Santino asked her to buy him a

motorcycle for his studies.

“Mommy, can you buy me a motorcycle, so I can go to school early and

home early also?” asked Santino to his mom. “No, Santino, I don’t want you to

drive its scary,” answered Lina.

“But mommy, I will be very careful in driving,” exclaimed Santino.

Because they all loved Santino, Lina say yes to him.

“Yes, Marco but promise me that you will only use it in your studies

okay?” said Lina. “Yes, mommy thank you so much, I love you!” said Santino.

Santino hug and kissed his mother so tightly.

The next day, Lina and Carding together with Santino they went to one of

the stores of motorcycle in their town to bought

 As Santino promised his mom, he used his motorcycle only in his

studies. Until one Saturday, when Lina was not around, Santino together with

his friends they stroll and hang out with one of their friends. Santino was only

14 years old that time. He used his motor without the consent of his mother.

“Santino, let’s go to Danny’s house,” said Rolly, Santino’s friend. “No, I

cannot go with you, Danny, my mother told me not to go anywhere without her

permission,” said Santino. “But today is the birthday of Rolly, he’s inviting us.”

Said Danny. “So, what let’s go?” said Danny to Santino. “Yes. But promise me

Danny, we comeback home early, so mother will not get angry with me.” Said

Santino. “Yes, I promised” said Danny. And so they went to Rolly’s birthday

party. They enjoyed much with Rolly’s birthday party until they did not notice

that its already dark outside. How worried Santino was.

“Danny, let’s go home. I’m so worried that my mother also worried about

me, knowing that I used the motor without her permission.” Said Santino to

Danny. “No, it’s too early Santino, lets enjoy more.” Danny answered. But

Santino was really worried about his mother, he got his motor and drove it as

fast as he could so he can go hime and explain everything to his mother.

But because he drove very fast, the accident happened.

“K-r-r-u-s-t, bog…………..”

Santino, got an accident with his motor, to the big truck. Santino rushed

to the hospital but he’s dead on arrival because of the big impact of the truck

to his motor. How sad the family was, especially Lina.

“if I could only get back the time that Santino said that he need that

motor for his studies I did not let him bought that motor,” said Lina to her

husband Carding crying. “No, don’t say that,” Carding comfort his wife. “God

had a reason for all what happened; let’s accept that Santino was in his now.”

Carding explained to Lina. That’s the time Lina comforted her self for what

happened to Marco.

After a year, come the good news about about Sonia. She’s conceiving a

baby girl.

“How happy we were mommy,” said Carlo, the husband of Sonia to her

mother in law. “Because, after how many years of waiting for a baby, now God

gave us one.” said Sonia to her mom “Yes, were happy for you Sonia and Carlo,

Congratulations!” said Lina. “Thank you, mommy,” answered Sonia and Carlo.
Episode VIII

After nine months of conceiving Sonia’s baby girl, she finally saw her

baby girl and they named her Ivana.

“Wow, how beautiful my grand daughter was,” said Lina in a loud voice.

“Hello, baby,” said Lina. “Look, Carding,, she looks like me,” said Lina to

Carding. And the family laugh all together.

From then on Sonia and Carlo visited their family together with baby

Hanna. How happy the family was. They were now contended with what they

have now in their life.

They were helping some indigent people in their town. Because there was

a time in their life that they had also ups and down. So they know how it feels

if someone’s had suffering from hardships in life. That’s why in their own little

way they were helping some indigent people. And they were happy with what

they doing now.

 “Now in my little years of living, I can say I did my best for my family.”

Lina said in her little voice. “Thank you Lord for my life, I’m so blessed.” Lina

prayed to the Almighty God.

Everything a mother can give to her children

She will do anything

Sacrifice and conquer

Al hindrances just to

Lift up her family’s life

She will do nothing

But good and better

For her family.
