Main idea: what is dopamine and how it affects people

- Dopamine – also called as neurotransmitters – operates as a
messenger between brain cells.
- Made by 2 areas: the substantia nigra on both side of the base of
the brain and the ventral tegmental.
- Usage: + the substantia nigra’s dopamine helps begin movements
and speech
+ The ventral tegmental’s dopamine tells the brain that
whatever it just undergo is worth getting more of.
- Also: reinforcement – repeat doing sth and helps animals focus
on things.
- Minus point: drugs high in dopamine can make the brains
misunderstood => addiction
