Indian Institute of Science (IISc), a leading institution for research and training in science and
engineering, opened its portals to undergraduate students by starting a four-year Bachelor
of Science (Research) Program in 2011. For further details regarding this program, please

In this context, IISc invites applications for the position of Teaching Assistants (Project
Assistants) in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences,
Materials and Physics to help to conduct the laboratory courses of the Bachelor of Science
(Research) Program.
These are contractual positions and candidates will be hired on a renewable (depending on
satisfactory performance and conduct) annual contract with an increment of Rs.1500, for a
maximum duration of 5 years. The emoluments will be in the range of Rs.24,000-1500-
Rs.30,000 per month (consolidated).
Total Number of Positions : 11 (UR-6, SC-1, ST-1, OBC-3 and one of the positions would be
reserved for persons with disabilities)
AGE LIMIT : The upper age of the candidates should not be more than 30 years as on the
last date prescribed in the advertisement for submitting applications with relaxation of
3 years in upper age limit for candidates belonging to OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:
1. The applicant should have secured First Class as declared by the University in the
qualifying examination and the applicants belonging to SC/ST should have secured
atleast a Second Class. Those who have completed their qualifying examinations and
awarded the degree as on the date of advertisement only need to apply.
2. Applicants with higher qualification than what is advertised need not apply.
5. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC shall enclose a photocopy of the respective caste
certificate (in case of OBC in the format prescribed for jobs under Government of India)
and similarly Physically challenged candidates shall enclose a copy of the certificate
issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format as applicable. .
MODE OF SELECTION:
The selection process would comprise of a Written Test followed by an interview for short
listed candidates to be conducted at the Institute on a date to be specified later. The
candidates called for written test will be displayed on our website at
http://www.iisc.ac.in/ug/ Please keep visiting our website also for updates, if any.
Applicants desirous to be considered on aforesaid lines shall fill the application form
available with the advertisement on the website by clearly mentioning the position as
‘TEACHING ASSISTANT’ and also indicating the discipline to which they are applying.
The printout of the application, along with necessary enclosures to be sent to the
ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (COUNCIL & HR), ESTABLISHMENT, INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE,
BANGALORE-560012 on or before 8 March 2019. One full set of the applications also may
be sent to ugpr@iisc.ac.in by e-mail.
Candidates applying for more than one discipline should send separate applications.
Incomplete applications and applications in format other than those displayed on web site
