2. Main Idea: The story is about a merchant’s son who has a flying trunk after his father died, he falls in love with a princess from Turkey who lived in a castle with a high window. 3. Supporting information: The story took place in Turkey whose the main character in the story is a young merchant’s son that has squandered his once considerable fortune but who acquire a flying trunk. After his father died, he spends all his money and has nothing left but a trunk. Luckily, it’s a magical trunk, so it flies him to Turkey. Once there, he flies up to a tower where there’s a princess. He falls in love with her, but he lies and tells her that he’s God of the Turks. She agrees to marry him, but he has to come back in a week and meet her parents, King and Queen of Turkey. Apparently the king and queen love fairy tales, so he has to tell them one. He tells them a story about family of matches that gets split up and talks to the other household tools. The king and queen enjoy the story, so they give permission of their daughter to marry the guy. The merchant’s son flies around setting off firework from his trunk prior to the wedding, but then his trunk burns up so he can’t get back to his bride. She waits for him on the roof, and continuous to wait. 4. Implicit information: a. The merchant and his family do not live in Turkey, maybe they live in the outskirt or outside the Turkey. b. The news of a Turkish royal princess living in a castle with high windows is well known everywhere including a merchant's son, so she flies to Turkey to find and meet the princess. c. The Princess often feels lonely because she never gets out of the castle and nobody ever comes into the castle other than her parents. d. That trunk is made of flammable materials, such as wood, so when the trunk exposed to spark fireworks the trunk is burn. 5.
