SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Learning to read with comprehension is an essential part of basic education.

Reading, after all, is an important gateway to the other disciplines. The result of the
study will merit the following:

Department of Education. The result of this study will provide useful information to
the department which will serve as the basis to appraise the existing programs in terms
of the students' needs and make changes as required for more effective curriculum
equipped with current trends of teaching and learning.

School Administrators. The result of this study could sense as a baseline data to
improve programs for school advancement that will help the students having reading
difficulties and poor reading comprehension.

English Teachers. The result of this study may serve as an eye opener to create and
innovates instructional materials and to use varied and appropriate strategies in
teaching the students in reading and comprehending English texts.

Students. The result of this study will give them consciousness about the importance
of the English subject in order to improve their reading ability and enhanced their
understanding about what they read.

Parents. The result of this study would be very beneficial to parents who would be
better informed that their sons/daughters are having this kind of situations so that
they can provide appropriate parental guidance through proper advice and a
supportive home environment.

Further Researchers. The result of this study can serve as a basis for further study on
teaching learning activities and student English performance.
