ABSTRACT

Grassland is entirely composed of tall grasses and lacks trees to grow. Grassland is one of

the major food providers for wild animals and very important for grazing activity. The purpose of

this study is to measure the density estimates, species richness and the curve of species in a certain

area. To measure the following, we conducted a method using a quadrant and a transect line. Both

of the two materials were a different set up and are entirely used in the whole sampling duration.

We used a 10m transect line and put in place, using a 1m quadrant that was put together in the

transect line and then counted the species that was inside. After collecting the data following the

proper procedure in the manual and using the different methods of estimation, we computed the

abundance of species, density estimation, dominance of species and frequency together with the

Importance Value. Gathered data implies that the species area was directly proportional to the

number of species present. The two quadrants yielded a different total and the most abundant

quadrant was in quadrant 2 and by solving the Simpson’s Index formula, the total Diversity Index

value was 0.73 which implies that the species in the grassland community was diverse.
