1. What are the responsibilities of companies in this or similar situations?

Find a way to continue their efforts on social responsibility and funding

research on infant feeding. Be careful with their pricing strategy and
make sure they are selling their products in third world countries for
reasonable and affordable prices for the people.

2. What could Nestlé have done to have avoided the accusations of

“killing Third World babies” and still market its product (Tactics)?

One of the things or several of the things Nestlé could have done are:

First support breastfeeding and its benefits, second learn more about the
culture of the countries and finally have more awareness about HIV

3. After Nestlé’s experience, how do you suggest it, or any other company,
can protect itself in the future?

Something that I would suggest to companies to protect themselves in

the future is to learn and know the country where they want to start their
business, study more their traditions and things that are well seen in the
country.

In addition to this study the effects which can cause their products in
each country

4. Assume you are the one who had to make the final decision on whether
or not to promote and market Nestlé’s baby formula in Third World
countries. What do you think is called the marketing approach and the
promotion used? Were the decisions socially responsible? Were they
ethical?

I definitely believe that the company's decisions were not socially

responsible nor ethical decisions. Because they did not take into account
things such as consumer protection, environmental protection, culture
and traditions of the country.
Also their prices were too high.

5. What advice would you give to Nestlé now in light of the new problem
of HIV infection being spread via mothers’ milk?

Some of the advice that I would give to this company would be to

promote breastfeeding as something beneficial and healthy, also to
promote HIV testing in order to reduce its transmission rates.

In addition to this contribute to campaigns and programs that especially

help the education and empowerment of women from third world
countries.
