Introduction

In a school environment the term “Social Media” very common especially on the rise social media
websites/apps such as Facebook,Twitter,Instagram,Snapchat when these platforms were on the rise it
gives students opportunity to become content Creators, controllers and sharers ,social media is a
platform that is used by students from The "Digital 2019: Global Digital Overview" showed Filipinos
spend an average of 10 hours, 2 minutes on the internet via any device. It mostly consists of millennials
ranging from teenage age till the appropriate adult age ,students are the important foundation to
society in which they can make an impact for the future generations.

Therefore, research must be conducted about the different things the students are exposed to, that
may affect them on a negative or positive scale. This research aims to analyze and identify the
tendencies at which the students are at the process of social networking, and whether it has any effect
on their academic performance and their communication skills with other students or peers. If there is
an impact on their academic performance, in what way does it effect it. All these questions will be
answered through this research paper.

this research aims at measuring the impact of social media on the younger generation’s academic
performance and communication skills; therefore, this paper is structured in the following order: the
literature review outlining previous research conducted on university students and high-school students
on the Cristal e Campus. Following with the research methodology and the results obtained from the
partaking or the asking of questions by the means of Interviews; followed by the discussion that will
answer the suggested hypotheses of the paper. The final part will be the conclusion and the limitations
of this study of students to portray their likes and what they are interested in.
