Tuesday: Lesson 4 & 5 (7HPE) What did you plan to do and why? This lesson was the first lesson of the three week indoor soccer unit. The plan here, similar to the basketball lesson with the year ten’s, was to gain an understanding of student readiness and where | should focus more time on in terms of movement solutions. What worked? What did not work? For whom? Why? The lesson worked as a whole, the students were excited to play indoor soccer and | gained the understanding | needed about the classrooms current physical capability in indoor soccer. There were a few students that did not want to participate at the end, | asked them why and often it was because they felt they didn’t get the ball and there was no point. | will take this feedback on board for my upcoming lessons. What evidence supports your perceptions? By talking to the students, talking to my mentor teacher, and making amendments for my upcoming lessons based on the feedback given. What feedback did you receive and how will you respond? The feedback overall was good. The main piece of feedback was to wait until all students are quiet before giving instruction, even if that means waiting there silently for a minute or so. | will respond to this by making this change to my upcoming lessons. How will you change or adapt your next lesson based on this reflection? The only change | will make, is to wait for all students to be quiet before giving instruction. If someone talks, then wait again until they all quieten down again. This will eliminate confusion when the activity begins and it also lets the students gain an understanding of the expectations of behaviour management | am setting.
