THE MESSAGE

I’ve been a message in a bottle ever since I’ve known myself.

I waited and waited and sailed many seas and oceans for someone to open me.
I’d lost hope after so many seconds at see and time seemed to have died.
My heart grew number and number as many tried to crack my bottle.
My page tainted, my corners torn, my message diluted into ether.
Amidst a storm, I sank to the darkest depths and I forgot what I meant.
Light grew dimmer, and my own message faded.
Before my last letter was wiped, I closed my eyes and prepared to say goodbye.
As my lashes folded against one another, a warm hand wrapped around me and I heard a
whisper.
It had finally happened… someone was reading my message.
My ink blushed, my corners grew back and my bottle melted away in your hands.
You… you saved me…
You read my story and my letter and ever since that day I am in the pocket next to your ever-
beating heart.
This message was successfully delivered.
