Safety incident

As I was walking outside the CEAFA building, I noticed the construction workers near the
scaffolds were not wearing a proper personal protective equipment. As part of construction site safety
procedures, all construction workers should be provided with the proper personal protective equipment
and clothing. As we can see on the picture that the man holding a metal sheet didn’t wear a pair of
protective gloves. Protective gloves should be supplied and worn to protect against cuts. It is very risky
to hold a sheet of metal for it may cause a cut in our skin and worse, he might get a tetanus infection.
Also, they didn’t wear a safety helmet instead they wore a cap in their workplace. Hard hats should be
worn when working on, under or around a scaffold. Workers should be able to recognize the hazards of
falling and know the procedures to follow to minimize hazards and prevent falls. In every working
environment, promoting and enforcing good practices and construction site safety procedures plays a
huge role in ensuring safety for everyone.

I went to the school canteen to buy some water when I noticed that there is a garbage cover in
the staircase. I thought maybe the utility worker must’ve misplaced it. Good thing that I noticed it and I
watched my steps otherwise I may fell to the ground and possibly I injured myself. Trips happen when
our foot strikes an object, causing to lose our balance. It is important that the staircases must be free
form obstructions. Keeps walkways and hallways free of debris, clutter and obstacles. Using clear, well-
placed signage can help call attention to potential problem areas. Make sure there are no cracks or
holes in flooring Repair any problem areas immediately and be sure to place warning signs on areas that
need to be fixed. Always give your stairway a second look. Examine your staircase before you go up or
down to help eliminate risks you may have overlooked. While slips, trips and falls can often be
attributed to carelessness or clumsiness, the good news is that most accidents are preventable.
Awareness will surely help keep everyone safe and out of harm’s way.
