MISSION AND VISION

1. - MISSION

The Mission of the University Institute of Languages at the University of Cuenca

is to provide college students and the general community with the opportunity
to learn different languages through active methodologies that develop
language skills in an integrated manner. The purpose is to achieve the ability to
effectively communicate in professional and everyday life in order to expand
each one’s ability to interact efficiently with people of different cultures and
thus have access to new knowledge that will enrich their lives and contribute to
the construction of a better country.

2. - VISION

In 2018 the University Institute of Languages will lead the teaching of modern
languages at the regional level in order to attempt communicative, social and
academic purposes. It will function as the support structure for those students,
professionals and researchers who need one or more foreign languages to
effectively network into a globalized and technologically oriented world, and for
a better understanding of different cultures.

The University Institute of Languages will continue expanding its current

offerings and incorporating cutting-edge technology to offer virtual courses for
those students who may not have the opportunity to be in the classroom or for
those who choose distance learning. In addition, it will provide support for
linguistic and methodological research and will search for new national and
international cooperative agreements to promote various aspects related to
modern languages as well.
