KPI and Kominfo Watch Netflix Content

The plan of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) to monitor Netflix's paid video streaming
platform content which is also supported by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology
(Kominfo) turned out to make citizens uneasy.

It is known, KPI and Communication and Information will work together to conduct surveillance to avoid
certain problems or issues contained in Netflix content, bearing in mind the supervision of new digital
content will be very different from conventional television and radio broadcasts.

Responding to this, citizens look angry. Through social media networks, citizens flocked to express their
frustration over the attitude taken by KPI and Kominfo.

According to most citizens, they chose to watch Netflix content because they were not satisfied with the
various programs aired on national television stations. Moreover, they have to pay a monthly
subscription fee to watch content on the Netflix service.
