Children are being pressured to ask their parents to buy them products.

Marketers are
persuading kids to ask parents to buy products. Also marketers are telling kids they will not be
cool unless they have their product. Kids are being persuaded by marketers to make poor
choices.

TV characters, media, celebrities, and their friends are persuading kids to make poor
choices. Children see and feel like they would be outcast if they do not have certain products
their friends have. Also, in the video The Choice of Myth Anna Lappe’ says,” Advertisers are
putting ads in schools where kids can see them.” Kids are disobeying parents to get products
their friends have and having poor behavior, because they can’t have them. In schools kids are
failing and getting bad grades, because in the statement that Michael J. Corps had it says,
“Children are interacting with more media more often than any time in our nation’s history.”
Children are failing school and getting bad degrades, children care more about what is online
more than what is happening in books. Kids are not getting the education they need, because
they are so focused on having what their friends have. With the influence of TV characters,
media, celebrities, and friends.
Children are choosing foods with lots of fats and sugars that nutritional foods would not
have. There are more fast food restaurants than grocery stores in communities. However, in
the video The Myth of choice Anna Lappe’ says,” there has been a 13% decrease in Quebec,
because they have stopped fast food ads and in eating fast food. There should be healthier
choices in grocery stores and less fast food places. People should be able to have the option of
fast food. Kids bother their parents a lot when they want fast food, even though in the video
The
Myth of Choice states, “parents say no, but kids nag their parents 9 times or until they say yes.”
Parents always want to make their kids happy. Even if it’s unhealthy and bad for them. Kids feel
the only way to be cool is to have what everyone else has.
Children are persuading their parents into buying certain products. Certain kids feel bad
about themselves. As a result of the survey done by the Center for a New American Dream
states, “more than half of the kids they surveyed says that buying certain products makes them
feel better about themselves. The number is even higher with teenagers 62% of them say that
buying certain products makes them feel better about themselves. Certain kids probably mean
it makes them feel better about themselves. Other kids might use that, because they know
their parents want them to be happy. Some parents would probably do anything to make their
kids happy and feel good about themselves. Kids know that and they use it. Kids make poor
choices for attention. Specifically, according to a 2003 New American Dream Poll,”57% of
children 9-14 years old would rather do something with their mom or dad. Than go to the mall
to go shopping. Kids most likely make poor choices to get their parents to notice and pay
attention to them more. Some parents work all the time and they feel like they do not matter.
The more they act out the more time the more time they spend with their parents. Attention is
all kids really want. They want to feel loved and like they matter to their parents. Parents only
want their kids to feel great about themselves and know they are loved, but some kids do not
feel that way.
Parents are oblivious to ways marketers are marketing to their children. Then parents
think their kids are lying which is causing them to make poor choices with the internet. Poor
choices are being influenced by marketers who are targeting kids. Marketers feel children are
the easiest to convince to want something. That is why they spend so much money marketing
to kids. They should not be allowed to do that. They are the cause of why kids are making poor
choices.
