I have chosen this film. You can see some posters of the movie.

This is Xi, a Bushman (1) of the Kalahari Desert (although they call themselves San).
He shows us how you can live simply and be happy at the same time.
(The actor’s name is N!xau)
(1) Bushmen people speak the oldest language in the world (Khoikhoi languages) that sound with several
clics

This is Andrew Steyn, a veterinarian or a biologist who analyses elephant manure samples for his PhD
dissertation. He is brave with animals, but too much coward with women, behaving as a clumsy
(Marius Weyers is the actor)

Kate Thompson is a frustrated and bored journalist who decided change her job to work as a teacher in a
small village in Botswana
(Her real name is Sandra Prinsloo)

Sam Boga is the bad of the film, a terrorist pursued by government troops
(Louw Verwey is the actor)

Plot/Script.
The story starts in the Kalahari Desert, showing how you can live with little water.
Xi and his family lived in total harmony with Nature. They had everything they needed and were very
happy…. Until the evil day….
This day an empty Coca-Cola bottle fell from the sky to their small village.
At first, they saw the bottle as a present of the Gods, but the peaceful life had finished ….All of them
needed the bottle at the same time. They started to fight and to be unhappy. The present was good, by the
Gods only sent one.
Xi decided to return the bottle to the Gods and so he started to walk to the End of the World.
While Xi went on his way as a pilgrimage, he met the rest of the characters: a teacher and her students
(they will be kidnapped by a terrorist), a terrorist with his group, a tourist guide, a native mechanic, a
reverend, a veterinarian-biologist who is very clumsy with women (and perhaps with a bit bad luck)…

With these characters, there are many fun stories and disparate elements that go parallel but converge at
the end.
Xi lives a whole series of very strange situations for him, but manages them with his new friends’ help. He
even ends up learning to drive a SUV. The most important situation was that, pretending to be a child was
able to sleep almost all the kidnappers and thanks to him the school children and their teacher were
released.

This kind of movie can only end in one way: well.

Sam Boga and his group were arrested.

Andrew and Kate fall in love, of course (even at the risk of her life)
And Xi? Xi finds the end of the world and manages to throw the “evil thing” into an abyss, returning it to the
gods

This film is consider a charming '80s classic that reveals the follies of the modern world from the
perspective of a native Kalahari bushman. In spite of (even though) there are several gunfights (shots), the
violence has a slapstick quality.

In my humble opinion, just as a movie viewer, not as a film critic, it is a family movie also useful to show to
high school students. For me is an adorable (lovable) film.
Its photography is no good, a bit foggy. The frames run in a surprising way, showing characters’ movement
with a speed similar to the old silent films to make them funny. Laughter is guaranteed even if you do not
like the movie very much, which is not my case.
For me, the most valuable thing in the movie are Xi’s wonder and confusion, confronting the ridiculous
nature of civilization. It makes you think about what we have lost putting Nature outside our life.
