As part of this internship, I conducted a field research to study the successful implementation of the
Women Empowerment Scheme in Patna and Muzzafarpur districts in the state of Bihar. The research
also aimed to analyse the positive correlation between productive funds utilization by women
members of sample Self Help Groups established under the scheme and their socio-economic
empowerment.

The research was fully funded by the Government of Bihar under Honorable Chief Minister Shri Nitish
Kumar's 'Badh Chala Bihar' - 'Bihar@2025' campaign managed by the Information and Public
Relations Department. Our team visited 102 SHGs across 14 villages in 3 blocks and 2 districts. We
interviewed 324 women with diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Our research proposal was
shortlisted as one of the best proposals received. See less

As a research and planning intern at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, I provide inputs
for policy formulation and scheme implementation through empirical research work under the
supervision of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Joint Secretary level.

During my deployment at the Food and Nutrition Bureau of the Ministry, I worked on critical
appraisal of the POSHAN Abhiyaan (PM's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment, also known
as the National Nutrition Mission), working closely on improving utilization of Anganwadi services. I
assisted in compilation and collation of data as well as policy relevant statistics received from the
implementing departments and agencies during the POSHAN Maah or National Nutrition Month
when activities related to nutrition awareness were carried out by all states and UTs up to the grass
root level.

I am currently deployed under the Women Welfare Bureau which overlooks the National Mission for
Empowerment of Women, One Stop Centers, Nirbhaya Fund, Women's Helpline, Anti-Trafficking Bill
among others, where I intend to identify and document 'good practices' observed in implementation
of these schemes. See less
