REACTION PAPER

Forrest Gump may look stupid for having a low Inteliigence Quotient (IQ) but he has
proven that it's not a hindrance for him to excel. In fact, he always looks best in
every scenario of the movie for having several accomplishments for he is a man
with a good heart. He even received a medal of honor but behind all of these
achievements are the struggles and challenges that he encounter in his life.
Watching the movie entitled "Forest Gump" starring Tom Hanks as Forrest and Robin
Wright as Jenny brought laughters but with a little tears and anger.

The movie Forrest Gump is a heart touching movie written by Eric Roth, based on
the novel by Winston Groom and directed by Robert Zemeckis. According to the
Washington post, Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump won an Oscar award for best picture
and actor. Robert Zemeckis also got the award of being the best director and this
movie was awarded as best in film editing, visual effect and adapted screenplay.
The movie was well deserving of these awards since the story, acting and visual
effects are exceptional.

The story began with Forrest Gump, sitting on a bus stop telling his life story thirty
years ago. He narrated all his experiences to every person sitting next to him. From
his young age on how he met Jenny and became part of his life, to becoming a
football scholar, then a soldier who has been send to fought in Vietnam . To how he
competed in an international pingpong competition and owned a shrimping
company until he engaged in philanthropy and jogs cross-company. This shows that
having a low I.Q. doesn't stop him to continue living his life. Indeed, he has a lot of
accomplishments which made him looks best in each scenario. However, my heart
crumpled as his love for Jenny was rejected. He keep on pursuing for Jenny but he
has been through a lot of hardship before Jenny accepted him. I find myself mad at
Jenny because of it.

Watching Forrest Gump brought me to a different world for it's not like the movies
that I have watched before it is a different one. The actors also excellently portrayed
and delivered their roles. I really felt the connection between Forrest and Jenny.
They really worked well together. Another performance that stands out is that of
Gary Sinise. Sinise plays the part of Lieutenant Dan Taylor, whose life is saved by
Forrest during the Vietnam War. He was quite convincing with his emotions
throughout the movie, as if he was really a disabled vet who had lost both legs in
the war.

Just as good as the actors were those working behind the scenes with the special
effects. Throughout Forrest Gump the special effects were incredible. During
Lieutenant Taylor's scenes, I was convinced that he really didnt have legs.

The movie is somewhat humorous but it shows the true values, honesty, friendship
and family. I had a lot of fun in watching the movie and also learned different life
lessons.
