Philosophy of Education

Throughout my educational journey in this class, I know now than ever that I want to become a

teacher. After taking this course I know now that teaching is a job with lots of responsibilities and can be

quite stressful for some. Yet there is so much more that outweighs the cons of this career if you ask me.

Being able to provide education and being an important role model and children’s lives is far more

rewarding than any other career.

Coming out of high school 2016 I had no clue what I wanted to be, today I stand assured that

being a teacher is what I was born to do. Ever since I have started working for CCSD I have awoken a

passion towards helping out students get through school and life. I feel that getting to work with CCSD as

a support staff before becoming a teacher will really help with the experience I need. Working with

different schools from all over the valley has really helped me open my eyes and see how much an impact

teacher can make on these children. Getting the chance to make a difference in these student’s life is

something that gives me life and purpose, it brings joy and a happiness I hadn’t experienced before. I

personally came from an area were poverty and violence were a big problem and made a difference in all

of our education. Luckily, I was able to stay on path and get out while most of my friends didn’t. Going

through that makes me want to guide students and help them get the most out of their education so they

can one day grow to be successful adults. I know that the school system expects teachers that can keep up

with their curriculum, but I plan to go above and beyond their curriculum.

The type of teaching style used in my classroom comes from progressivism. As a teacher I see

myself more of an advisor and guide to my students rather than a classroom dictator. I believe that the

theory behind having students learn from experiences is true which is why I plan to provide experiences

for my students, so they can learn from it. In order to provide progressive student-centered rooms my

teaching will involve lots of ongoing projects, integrate technology, and involve student in evaluation so

that they can learn from the feedback I am giving them.

In my class I want students to be interested in my instructional work all the time, so I plan to do

lots of hands on activities and educational fun experiments. I feel that teachers that go out of their way to

make their learning lessons fun and interesting get to their students and get them to actually want to learn.

Also, presentations will be conducted in my class by students on topics regarding culture and race

traditions so that students gain knowledge on racial diversity and welcome all races. I believe we are all

human and no skin color should be more then the other and I want all my students to welcome all races to

our classroom as well. My classroom well be about helping build each other up and being respectful to

everyone, not a single soul will be treated different. My assignments will be graded on the amount of

work put in by each individual, if I see a student going out of his way to do an assignment, he will get an.

If a student does otherwise, he or she will get a bad grade. As a teacher I will be fair to every student, no

one will get favoritism over the other.

The future of students is in our hands which is way there is a lot of steps you need to do before

going forward in this career. Each subject and grade levels require different procedures and actions

needed, which I don’t blame. I feel that the most preparation a teacher gets the better she will do in the

classroom with her students. I am planning on getting the K-8 license, so I can teach whatever grade I

want, I love working with smaller age kids. In order to get the K-8 license I need to get a bachelor’s

degree from an accredited college or university and also complete a program for elementary school

teaching. After 5 years of my teaching career I plan to work on my school administrator license, so I can

make my home school the best it can be for the local attending students. In order to obtain my license for

administrator I will need to have a master’s degree or higher and be able to prove that i have taught for

five years, any grade from K-12. I think taking all this on will help me achieve my goals of being able to

help students out.
