Current on 20 kV Silicone Rubber Insulator, Academic Supervisors: Moch. Dhofir, Drs.,

One of parameter that describe insulator is the level of leakage current. There are several
reason of environmental conditions that can affect the leakage current level of insulator. In
this research, the level of leakage current on postal insulators made from silicone rubber
was explained in conditions of variations in temperature and humidity. This research was
conducted at High Voltage Laboratory University of Brawijaya. For conditions of variation
in humidity, the humidity level starts from 50% to 99% with 5% rate of increase. For
conditions of temperature variation, the temperature level starts from 25℃ to 70℃ with 5℃
rate of increase. The variations in humidity and temperature intended to obtain the value of
leakage current that vary according to climate conditions in Indonesia. The test voltage used
is AC with voltage range starts from 10 kV to 30 kV with 5 kV rate of increase. From the
measurement data and analysis, it was concluded that the level of leakage current under
humidity variations increased non-linearly along with the increased humidity level and level
of leakage current increase rapidly when humidity level approached the maximum level.
Whereas in temperature variations, the level of leakage current increase linearly along with
the increased temperature level, but from data analysis shows that in the temperature range
of 25℃ to 70℃ id does not significantly affect the value of the leakage current.
