Timeline: Assignment Introduction: In-class Workshop: Final Draft Due: Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Throughout this module, we have considered elements that make up a good review: focus; an opinion supported with personal evidence, evidence from others, and evidence from the subject being evaluated (logos); and a balanced or fair evaluation. How you document these elements depends on your purpose and audience (ethos). Format: For this paper, you should critically evaluate your experience at a restaurant or food service establishment (of your choice) that you do not identify with culturally. Your review should include 2-3 words from the native language (with translations) and 5-6 images of your experience with captions. Your paper should be a minimum of 900 words. Spend 2-3 pages evaluating all aspects of your experience. Include specific cultural elements that you experienced and how they contributed to your experience. Spend 1-2 pages interpreting how the cultural elements you experienced are different from your own and why you would (or not) recommend this culinary experience to your audience. Audience: Academic peers Along with your essay, please include a Revision letter. Revision Letter: All major essays for this course will go through the drafting and revision process and will be reviewed by your peers and by me. Along with the assignment, you will write a detailed revision letter for this assignment. Your letter should: o Be formatted in the style of a letter (salutation, complete sentences, evidence of organization, closing). o Be addressed to me; o Explain the style in which you wrote your paper (MLA or APA); o Discuss the revisions you completed prior to submitting your assignment. o Submitted with the assignment on the assignment’s due date. It may not be submitted independently from the assignment.
**Any major assignment that does not contain a revision letter will deducted ¼ of a letter grade.**
