Sur DIVISION MEMORANDUM No. 829s. 2019 2019 NATIONAL NO SMOKING MONTH CELEBRATION. To: Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Personnel of the Curriculum Implementation Division Personnel of the School Governance and Operations Division Public Schools District Supervisor/Districts in Charge ‘School Heads of Public Schools This Division 1. The Division of Agusan del Sur shall observe the 2019 National Smoking Month Cel pursuant to Presidential Proctamation No. 183, s. 1993. 2. In view of this, all schools shall conduct a short orientation about the harms of tobacco use during the flag ceremony on the first week of July 2019. Below are the important notices that should be relayed to all students. 1. Promote awareness of DO 48, s. 2016, and the roles and responsibilities of school personnel with regard to the tobacco contro! measures contained therein: 4. prohibition of smoking among minors; 2. prohibition of smoking in the premises of schools and DepEd offices; 3. prohibition of selling and advertising cigarettes within 100-meter perimeter of schools; 4. prohibition of selling and advertising cigarettes to minors everywhere; and 5. prohibition among government offices, including schools, to have unnecessary interaction with, or receive any form of donation from the tobacco industry. 2. Raise awareness on the harms of tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. 3. Raise awareness on the tactics of the tobacco industry {tactics to circumvent tobacco control measures, glamorize smoking, and downplay or deny the addictive, harmful nature of tobacco products). 3. All schools’ NDEP Coordinators shail submit narrative report with pictorial. Moreover, all PSDS/DIs and/or District NDEP Coordinators shall notify and follow-up the schools in the observance and submission of reports. 4, Reports shall be submitted to the Division NDEP Coordinator on or before July 8, 2019 in 3 copies. 5. All expenses acquired in the observance and submission of the said report shall be charged against schoo! local funds subject to usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. 6. Wide dissemination of this Memorandum is greatly desired.
