Chiko’s Promise

When his father was taken away by Burmese soldier, his father said to Chiko “Take care

of your mother. Chiko!” (p.6) After his dad was taken away, Chiko took good care of his mother

until Burmese soldiers took him away. Since he is not next to his mother anymore, the only thing

he could do is sending money and letters to his house saying that he is alive. I think Chiko, the Commented [1]: delete

know when he might die. Also, Chiko got more frustrated because he couldn’t take care of his

that he was able to keep his promise with his dad. These examples so you how Chiko really tried

his best to keep his promise with his dad. He sends money to his mother and cares about if he

dies, he wouldn’t able to keep his promise. Without Chiko sending money, Chiko won’t able to

keep his promise and his mother will be in a dangerous situation. In the end, Chiko was able to

go back home because Karenni people saved him and helped him go back to his home. The main
idea of this was to show how Chiko really tries and cares about his promise to take care of his

mother. He did a great job of taking care of his mother.
