Fabulous Festivals!
Do you like food? Well, you’ll love these International Food Festivals.

 Do you know the Gilroy Garlic Festival? It is in the small town


of Gilroy, California, near San Francisco. The festival is for three days
in July. More than 100,000 people visit the festival. They have food
and drink, all made using garlic—bread, pizza, beer, even ice cream!
Some people wear clothes made of garlic. It’s great fun!

 In the city of Phuket, Thailand, the Chinese community has a


vegetarian festival every year in the Fall. For ten days, people don’t
eat meat or drink alcohol. There are many delicious vegetarian dishes
to eat. Many people wear white. Also, there are interesting shows.
Some men eat fire and walk on hot coals!

 The Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, is a lot of fun. People


from all over the world visit Germany at the end of September. The
festival lasts for sixteen days. People drink delicious German beer
and eat chicken and sausages. There are also parades and traditional
German music.
