I will present abaut journal international, and my tittle is a in situ modification of a road material

using a special polmer

The use of polymers as additives for the improvement of the basic materials for the construction of
road infrastructure

In road infrastructure projects, the quality of the filling material and its grain distribution are very
important. If road infrastructure material found close to the construction site does not meet the
specifications, the materials can be improved with suitable chemicals such as lime, cement and fly
ash etc. Then the authors make an experiment to use it.

so, this method is done in Turkey on two kinds of roads that have the same composition, but the
difference is where the first roads using polymer and a second road does not use polymer

 METHODS :

a. Plate loading tests

b. CBR tests
The result in plate loading test :

 The first figure :

At the same maisture content the dry unit weight of material base weith polymer have a
higher set than natural base
 The second figure:
in the grap that base with polimer is more best because the pores is smaller than natural
base

The Result in CBR test :

The dinsity of soil with polymer is more higher than the soils without polymer .
Conclusion

1. The result indicate that addition of 1% polymer by dry weight result in improved
geotechnical characteristics in the field applications and create a polymer soil composite

2. The polymer additive can allows the use of lower quality materials that may be available
closer to the project site, when the engineers face the problem to get the materials that
have been before determined.
