INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES

Being an effective teacher to 21st century learners requires the implementation and utilization of
creative and innovative teaching strategies in order to meet students’ different needs. Thus, the
teaching-learning process will be effectively and efficiently taken into place.
We, the teachers of Christian Vision Academy, work together to formulate the approaches and
techniques that we are utilizing during the teaching-learning process inside each of our classroom.
I. Direct Instruction
This method is the use of straightforward and explicit teaching techniques, and is usually
intended for teaching a specific fact, skill, or task. It is a teacher-centered method meaning
the teacher stands in front of the class and presents the lesson. Thus, the student has only
limited participation in the teaching-learning process. Some of the examples are:
a. Lecture
b. Demonstration
c. Socratic Method (Question and Answer)
II. Indirect Instruction
This method is student-centered where the information does not come directly from the
teacher. Therefore, the students are actively engaged in the learning process, like making
inquiries, using critical thinking skills to solve problems and the like. Some of the examples
are:
a. Problem Solving
b. Case Study
c. Concept mapping
III. Collaborative Strategies
The objective of this method is to make the learning enjoyable for the students by working
with their peers or classmates. Moreover, this also involves the collaboration of ideas
among the students.
a. Brainstorming
b. Debate
c. Group discussion
IV. Experiential Approaches
This method allows the students to be directly involved in the learning process by doing or
experiencing the activity themselves.
a. Experiments
b. Role-play/ Drama/ Skit
c. Simulations
V. Independent Approaches
This method aims to produce students who are self-reliance and independent as regards to
learning process.
a. Researches
b. Reporting
