Main uses of N-Butyraldehyde •

Production of N-Butanol by catalytic hydrogenation of N-Butyraldehyde. It is widely used as a solvent and as an esterifying agent. For example its
ester with acrylic acid is used in paint, adhesive and plastic industries.

• It is used in production of 2-Ethylexanol which is a colorless liquid and it is one of the chemical used for producing PVC plasticizers,
Trimethylolpropane (TMP), N-Butyric acid, Polyvinyl butyral (PVB), and Methyl Amyl Ketone.

• Smaller applications include intermediates for producing pharmaceuticals, crop protection agents, pesticides, synthetic resins, antioxidants,
vulcanization accelerators, tanning auxiliaries, perfumery synthetics, and flavors. The overall use of N-Butyraldehyde in different industries is
estimated.

• Paint industries 40%

Plastic industries 60%

3 Capacity selection

As we observe through graph the current import of Butanal is twenty thousand kilogram per month it means many countries want to increase its
import to make products of plastics and develop their paint industry to support country’s economy. Based on this data gathered we have
selected the capacity to be 5000 metric ton per year production of butyraldehyde
