Theme III: Ethics and Professionalism

Section 3.2: Career Paths

My Career plan from getting my high school diploma to becoming a high school teacher

has several different steps I would need to achieve.

In high school this year, I plan to take the ACT and SAT. I am currently enrolled in

courses such as Teachers Academy and On Your Own, to help me get a better understanding of

what the teaching profession is like and getting a head start to becoming an adult. I also partake

in extracurricular activities outside of school, such as club soccer and indoor soccer. These

activities participate as a stress relief and help clear my head and give me composure. During

high school, I plan to apply to several colleges as well. Most of the schools I have in mind are

in-state, such as Ohio University, Kent State, Bowling Green and Cincinnati.

Once I graduate from high school and get my diploma, my goal is to have my plan of

where I want to go to college.

When I get into one of the schools of my choice, I would work towards getting my

bachelors degree in secondary education, along with a teaching certificate. My plan is as soon as

I am certified in teaching, to find a teaching job in certain locations where my family is nearby. I

would choose to work at a school in states such as Ohio, Michigan, or Arizona. In addition, after

I begin teaching I plan to start working towards getting my masters degree.

The environment in which I would choose to work in depends on the distance I am from

any of my family members. Other variables are crucial to me as well, such as preferring to work

in more of an urban area than a rural location. I’m used to the increase in population growth, as I
live in the Olentangy school district and I would not want to go from a larger population to an

even smaller smaller school. I would prefer to teach integrated mathematics as well.
