Description
============
Patch for Purists strives to be an all-in-one patcher for everything in the The
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Game of the Year Edition that is considerd a bug. I
define a bug as: "an immersion breaking issue which was clearly not intended by the
developers". This definition was the benchmark for creating this patch. Patch for
Purists covers almost every aspect of the game. A complete overview of fixes can be
found in the Patch Notes.

“What distinguishes the Patch for Purists from existing player made patches?,” you
may ask. My purist approach kept me from introducing debatable and unnecessary
changes: balance changes based on personal preferences, so-called improvements in
gameplay, and adding of unnecessary stuff. These are changes which, according to
me, do not belong in a bugfixing patch because they go beyond fixing unintentional
immersion breaking issues. Unfortunately, these are the exact changes that plague
most player made patches. These patches force purists to play an outdated version
of the game and alter the experience of new players who are not aware of these
unnecessary changes to the original game, as was intended by the developers.

Requirements
=============
Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon

=============
Installation
=============
First of all you must update to the latest offical patch (v1.6.1820). Steam and GOG
versions of the game are up to date. If you are running the CD version of the game,
the correct installation order is: Morrowind / Tribunal / Tribunal Patch
v1.4.1313 / Bloodmoon / Bloodmoon Patch v1.6.1820 (so skip Morrowind Patch
v1.2.0722). When you are in doubt about the version of your game; this can be found
at the bottom left of the main menu of the game.

Next place the files in this folder into you Morrowind\Data Files folder and
overwrite files. The default location is C:\Program Files\Bethesda
Softworks\Morrowind\Data Files. For Steam users it is C:\Program
Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind\Data Files. Now activate Patch for
Purists.esm under "Data Files" in your Morrowind launcher, and you're good to go.
New players, and those who want all fixes, should download the "Merged" version.
Those who want to put together patch modules themselves should download the
"Modular" version.

N.B.: I would strongly advise against switching patches halfway through. Patches
simply touches too many things. Wrye Mash can not fix this. My advice is to
continue playing you old save on the old patch, and update the moment you start a
new playthrough.

==================
Incompatibilities
==================
Patch for Purists is fully compatible with OpenMW.

Patch for Purists conflicts with:

- Morrowind Patch Project (MPP)
- Unofficial Morrowind Patch (UMP)
- Morrowind Rebirth (comes with its own fixes)
