The Foreign Missions Act authorizes the Secretary of
State to designate the terms and conditions under which benefits may be granted to foreign missions. Since 1983 the Secretary determined that travel in the United States beyond a certain boundary by personnel and their dependents from specified foreign missions could be undertaken only with the prior approval of, or after notification to, the Department’s Office of Foreign Missions. Those foreign missions which are subject to travel restrictions have been notified of the specific requirements for travel.
