 Photoshop has so many
features that it may actually be
too powerful for many users.
It's also very expensive, so
unless you need to edit photos
or graphics professionally it may
not be the best option for you.

About Photoshop 6
 Adobe Photoshop is software that is
extensively used for raster image editing,
graphic design and digital art. It makes use
of layering to allow for depth and flexibility
in the design and editing process, as well
as provide powerful editing tools, that
when combined, are capable of just about
anything.

 It was created by brothers Thomas and
John Knoll in 1988. In 1989, John sold the
program to Adobe Systems, which
marketed it as “Photoshop.” Since then,
the program has become the de facto
industry standard for raster graphics
editing. It is published for both macOS and
Windows, but not Linux.

 Photoshop is primarily designed
for professionals, it can be
somewhat challenging to use,
especially if you're learning it for
the first time. However, you
don't need to understand all of
Photoshop's features to use it
effectively.

 Photoshop can edit and compose raster images in
multiple layers and supports masks, alpha
compositing, and several color models including
RGB, CMYK, spot color, and duotone. Photoshop
uses its own PSD and PSB file formats to support
these features. In addition to raster graphics, this
software has limited abilities to edit or render text
and vector graphics (especially through clipping
path for the latter), as well as 3D graphics and
video. Its feature set can be expanded by plug-ins;
programs developed and distributed independently
of Photoshop that run inside it and offer new or
enhanced features. 10
The default file extension for a work in
progress is called .PSD (Photoshop Document).
A PSD file has a maximum of 30,000 pixels for
width and height and a file length limit of 2
gigabytes. Another type of Photoshop file is
.PSB (Photoshop Big) – it is a large document
format and extends the PSD’s maximum height
and width limit to 300,000 pixels and also
extends the length limit to around 4 exabytes.

Using an older version of
Photoshop—like Photoshop CS6 or
earlier—some features may work a
bit differently, but you should still be
able to follow along. However, if
you're using Photoshop Elements,
it's important to note that some of
the features we cover may be
missing or work in a different way.

Unlike many other applications you may have used, you
cannot buy a boxed copy of Photoshop CC. Instead, you'll
need a subscription plan through Adobe Creative Cloud,
Adobe's cloud-based software service. Then, you'll
download Photoshop CC to your computer. A Creative
Cloud subscription includes other benefits, including
cloud-based storage for your Photoshop projects. You'll
also receive the newest version of Photoshop whenever
it's made available, so you'll never have to worry about
upgrading to the most recent version

limitation.
