Dear Mr.

Burn,

Thank you very much for allowing me to be a part of your classroom! Before we start our
time together, I would like to tell you a little more about myself as a person. I am originally
from Ontario but have lived in Calgary Alberta for the majority of my life, and earned my High
School Diploma at Centennial High School in 2012, as well as my Bachelor’s Degree in music in
the fall of 2017. During the time since earning my degree, I have focused on gaining more
experience working with children and exposure to the educational world. I have been
volunteering at multiple schools in all levels on a regular basis and have spent time both in
specialized music classes as well as a general classroom environment.

In terms of interests, I of course have an active interest in music of all kinds. I play the
clarinet as my main instrument of choice and have participated in teaching masterclasses for
the instrument. I am also a part of the Calgary Wind Symphony. Other interests for me
include reading, foreign history/culture and languages.

During the course of my practicum experience and into the future, I have an interest in
giving students an equal opportunity to learn as well as inspiring and encouraging their
education and interests. I want to develop my knowledge and skills as a teacher with students
at all levels of and help them enjoy learning. Even without experiencing it in an official
capacity, teaching has always been one of the most rewarding careers available to me
because educators are a huge influence in building future skills for younger generations, and
you can watch their growth and success happen in the moment.

The opportunity to join your classroom, and experience new teaching styles in a practical
setting, is one I have been looking forward to since well before entering my program, I can’t
wait to start working with you and hope to learn a great deal from your experiences in the
educational field.

Sincerely,

Sarah Knox
