Do not alow emotional witnesses tobe interviewed immediately after the event, as they may be unjustly harsh on themselves. Preparation: Preparation is essential othe sucoess ofthe interview. Take the time to gather background information on the accidentineident prior othe interview. Give some ‘consideration to information that fe required, questions that can be asked, how best o structure the interview, who wil be involved, ad the background of witnesses witnes ssmont: Prise the order of witness interviews according o availabilty or relationship to ‘ccurtence. Consider their experince and experi, i. how familar are they withthe equipment or operation. Assess their ‘mativation and cre, e.g. explore the possiblity they may be protecting someone.
