Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to the article in today’s newspaper regarding the major role that media
plays in people’s life. I would very much like to express my point of view about this subject, as I
personally think there’s a lot to be discuss.

For a start, it is clear that media has influence on the choices we make, especially when it comes
to buying beauty and health care products. Such items are advertised on TV with enhanced
images that make us think someday we will reach that unreal perfection by using those products.
Although many people assure to have in control the choices they make when going shopping,
the truth is that it is impossible to not be carried away by the advertisements we see on our
daily-basis. There are everywhere; in the radio car on our way home, at night between the news
breaks, in the streets while going to work… Nobody can ignore adds.

On the other hand, media has enabled us to communicate with our loved ones in seconds.
Thanks to the development of the Internet, we can be in touch with practically everyone every
single minute of the day . However, we can not forget that social media platforms might be
extremely addictive. This specifically has more effect on teenagers, which leads them to
antisocial or aggressive attitudes towards their parents or their friends.

Another aspect that we should consider important is the educational value that media offers to
little children. Interactive and fun games can be found on the net in order to learn English or to
practise math operations, which gives an extra point to the advantages of media into the
modern world.

To conclude, media has become an essential part of our daily-lives, and I am sure many
newspaper’s readers would agree with me if this letter was published in the paper. I very
much hope I have given my opinion clearly.
Yours sincerely,
Laia
