Michael I.

Barredo was born at the day of April 02, 1955 in

Manila. He graduated from De LaSalle University with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Studies in 1975 and also
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy & Letters in 1999.
He has a profession of businessman, an owner of Bargen
Insurance Company and the Director of a family- owned
trucking company, Mabar Trucking. His married wife named Barbara and they have two sons,
Richard and Stephen.

He lost his sight in vehicular accident at the year of 1979. He began to involve with
disabled sector after. He became active in the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manila and
organized projects for disabled indigents. As director of Manila Jaycees (JCI Manila), his
programs included “Liwanag sa Dilim”, CAMP PAG-IBIG and operation Godparents. He was
also the founding president of the National Paralympic Committee of the Philippines in 1997. He
was given the “Presidential Award for Meritorious Service for Community Development” by the
Manila Jaycees. He also received the Apolinario Mabini Award for Outstanding Disabled in the
field of business in 1989. He worked for the passage of the Free Mailing Services for the Blind
through Executive Order 295, as well as raised funds to assist Resources for the blind to produce
text books, materials on tape for the visually impaired students through the International Batar.
Throughout the years so many awards and achievements was passed by to him. He was very
helpful and soft hearted person.

Although he was a disabled person he doesn’t even loss his hope. He became more
responsible person and charitable which he do some action to help every individual specially
Person with Disabilities. Disabilities are not barriers to do something in your life. Even thou you
are disabled person you can do what you want to do with the help of yourself and trust in the
power of God who guide you to the right pathway. Trust yourself that all trials in your life will
become a small salt felt under the water which means you can easily overcome it. Also disabled
person are sometimes more appreciable and kind person than the person who is completely, but
cannot have a good character of manner and they don’t even value their completeness because
they abused it with the mindset that they don’t care anymore for anyone else cause they don’t
have any difficulties to facing the life. PWD have abilities that bloom and shine that brings them
to achieve their goals. They are not burdensome to life they have a natural ability need to build
for them to become like not others for every individual. We must appreciate them because they
will bring change not only in life but also in society.
