Starting a new life

In Arkham there’s a girl named Yue Nagumo, because of her father’s line of work they have to
move every 6 months or so. After being contracted to a certain mining company they have to move to
Arkahm from Japan in order to see the project through. As expected Yue cannot make too much friends
because she has to move from one place to another, but she adopted to it by being that really friendly
transfer student. This time though along with the contract is a scholarship for college, this is one of the
reasons why her father accepted the contract.

Yue was really nervous when she came to the Arkahm because she can’t speak the local
language, what’s more this is her first time out of the country, the only silver lining here is that she’s a
bit better at speaking English than her classmates. So it’s her first day at school today, she’s really
nervous thinking how she’ll be able to make friends in a foreign country, to her surprise everyone is
really friendly, the guards greeted her and the other students when they came to school, everyone talks
to each other and even at the hallways on the way to their class the others talks to her as if it’s the most
natural thing in the world. But in the back of her mind there’s this nagging feeling that everything is off,
“Why are they so friendly?” “Is this how the locals usually are?” “Is this really ok?” these are the
questions that keep on playing in the back of her head. The class started and the teacher introduced
himself, “Freshmen! Welcome to our beloved university R’lyeh my name is Herbert West and I’ll be your
professor for English Literature.” Is he really a Professor here or was just a prank I mean he is a small,
slender, spectacled youth with delicate features, yellow hair, pale blue eyes, and his voice is so soft? My
seatmate Lavinia seems to be reading my mind replied “I heard he already have his Doctorate degree
even though he is just 23! It’s not really that far from our age isn’t it?” hearing that Yue smiled wryly at
her seatmate, again she felt weird and some questions are floating in her mind “Why did she said it to
me in particular?” and “She is too close, we just met” but she just brushed them aside and continues to
listen to their teacher, “Ok I’m 23 years old and I happen to have my doctorate degree too but don’t let
that intimidate you and just talk to me whenever you need me” after saying that he winked at us,
everyone mostly giggle while some laugh out loud. “For our book we will be focusing on the book of H.P.
Lovecraft, is there anyone here familiar with that book?” no one answered “I see, well then since this is
our first meeting I won’t give you guys too much trouble I need everyone to go to the library and read
the summary of the said book our next meeting we will be discussing it, everyone is dismissed” After
hearing that Yue immediately stands up and to her surprise everyone is looking strangely at her but that
only happened for a really short time maybe just for a fraction of second then everyone started getting
busy and pack their things while talking to their seatmates. Again! But this time the alarms in her head is
louder than before as if they’re sirens warning her to get out. In her head questions like “What the hell
just happened!?” “This place is too weird!”. Almost panicking she ran to the library, she doesn’t know
why she chose to go their but maybe it’s the student inside her telling her to do their assignment now so
she won’t have to worry about anything after she get home.

She asked the librarian for the book H.P. Lovecraft and the librarian just stared at her for a solid
3 seconds, after that she gave her instruction on where the book is and continue playing solitaire in her
computer. Maybe she’s mad that Yue disturbed her while she was playing, that’s the logical thinking
however after the things that been bugging her so much after coming here she’s getting paranoid. She
finds herself a seat and starts reading the summary at the book of the book to keep her mind off this
stupid thoughts running through her head is what she thought but the book is not helping as the book is
about gods and horrible representations of things, after researching much about the book she
concluded that she hated “Nyarlatothep the crawling chaos” the most and it’s understandable since that
god is sadistic manipulative and able to change form at will in order to meddle with the mortal world.
After being done with her research she decided to place the book back where she got it and decided to
leave to her surprise the librarian called out her name, “Yue, you and your family should get out of here
while you have the chance” upon hearing the advice Yue ran, she thought that it’s weird and why on
earth would the librarian know her name what’s more why would she tell me to get out of here with my
family. On her way home, she noticed that it’s nearly sundown even though she had plans to roam the
place in order to know it better she just decided to cancel that and go home instead.

To her surprise her parents are already home and looks exhausted they just greeted each other
and decided to eat. While eating Yue unbeknownst to herself started blurting out things like this place is
too weird, she’s scared of the locals and that they should get out of here, it’s like all her pent up
frustration unleashed like a broken dam and she started crying telling both her parents that she wants
to get out of here. She thought that her parents would scold her and tell her not to be selfish just
because she can’t fit in that they should leave, to her surprise her parents felt the same, her father said
“Yes I Understand sweetie I feel the same, the thing is this place feels off it’s like everything is staged I
did not even do anything today because I felt like this place is nauseatingly good” her mother also said “I
was on the wet market and it’s bustling but everything feels faked everyone have a smile on their face
and the fishes looks like they’re staring at me and what’s more while I was choosing a good meat to buy
everyone was eerily quiet and was just staring at me.” And so with anonymous decision they decided to
leave and they packed their things on the same evening after packing they decided to sleep on the same
bed as a family. In the morning they all wake up at nearly the same time and they decided to do things
properly and tell the school and company that they’ll be withdrawing the contract, the father said to Yue
“Yue let’s split up and talk to the people in charge respectively that we will be leaving bring your mother
with you so they’ll believe you” Yue replied “Yes father let’s do these as fast as we can so we can get out
of this wretched place” everyone agreed to that statement. This kind of solution is a bit rash but the
Hagumo family happens to be a bit superstitious and would rather suffer a logical problem than a
supernatural one after all the father’s salary is higher than the average salary so their savings is a lot so
there won’t be any problem regarding the financial things in the family.

At the company the father gave his higher up his resignation letter personally stating that a
better contract have been given to him with a higher salary in it, the supervisor stared at him for a while
and decided to approve of it, after that the supervisor announced it and decided to throw a farewell
party with the company budget for team building, they all had fun so the father is having second
thoughts on leaving but after he decided to drink a the beer that was given to him by his co-worker he
got drowsy but before falling asleep he noticed that everyone is staring at him with the same creepy grin
he was received by at his first day and then he finally lost consciousness. As for Yue and her mother the
same thing happened to them except they weren’t given any drinks. After the farewell party they just
decided to go home but after exiting the premises they were dragged by a student and a guard with the
creepy grin on their face.

Yue woke up because her father and mother kept on screaming for her to do so, she even slept
talk and told her parent to give her 5 more minutes but her parents didn’t even register that reply in
their heads and just screamed louder with more desperation, alarmed Yue woke up and suddenly
remember what happened upon trying to stand up she just noticed that her hands and feet are tied up
to the chair similar to her parents. Her parents are glad that’s she’s awake now and decided to try and
break loose, eventually the knots became loosed and they broke free. Now they decided to survey their
surrounding and they noticed that they’re still at the school in the basement to be exact because they
saw a map of the school at the wall just besides them. After a while the family decided to try and exit
the school, tiptoing on the stairs to get to the ground floor, upon reaching the lobby they heard a
scream, Yue recognized the scream, the voice feels like it’s from Dr. Herbert her professor she got
worried but in contrast to her emotions her parents got wary and decided to leave that scream alone
and make a run to the exit. Yue upon noticing what her parents wants to do tried to persuade them that
they should help him saying it was the most humane thing to do in this situation but her parents told her
that “We should be worrying about ourselves right now! We need to get out of here, let’s just call the
police and report this crazy town to them” Yue hearing that sound reason almost got persuaded but she
heard Dr. Herbert scream again this time full of anguish, Yue said “The police won’t get here in time he
will be dead by then we have to help him now” her parents gave in to their one and only daughter and
decided to go with her decision.. They follow the screams to the classroom on the 2nd floor while on
their way there they noticed a few peculiar things like how the sky looks empty how the waves are so
load after all, they remember that the shore is a kilometer away from the school and even though they
were captured and tied up how come no one is there to guard them. Upon getting to the classroom they
saw Dr. Herbert in a chair surrounded by the students with a spear impaled on both of her legs,
panicking the parents the father in particular looked for a something that can be used as a weapon and
found a fire extinguisher at the side of the door, it the one that should be used in case of fire breaking
out, the father grabbed the fire extinguisher and pulled the pin then he break the door down with a kick
and let the fire extinguisher break loose the mother and Yue pushed the students aside and grab Dr.
Herbert. The Father smashed the students standing idly by with the fire extinguisher, strangely the
students didn’t fight back. After successfully bringing out Dr. Herbert he said “Thank you Yue And Yue’s
Parents I thank you from the bottom of my heart” then the father said “Dr. Herbert do you have a car
we can use to get out of here?” Dr. Herbert said “Yes, it’s just in front of the school” Yue is strangely
quiet right now but the father didn’t pay it any mind and just tried to get to the car of Dr. Herbert. On
their way to the car Yue saw a crowbar just besides the car near Dr. Herbert’s then Yue screamed almost
afraid, “Father, Mother! Get away from him!” her Father replied visibly confused “You told us to save
him and now you’re telling us to get away from him?” Yue said “But Father I never introduced myself on
class and he should not know either of you too so how on earth did he recognize us?” her mother
shaken dropped Dr. Herbert. Dr Herbert started laughing hysterically as if he’s having fun and started
standing up but that should not be possible since both his legs are impaled. Dr Herbert said “it’s been
fun! Even though it’s just been 2 days it’s been terribly fun, this could have been longer if that blasted
Hastur didn’t meddle but alas I managed to eject him from this realm.” And then he proceeded to laugh
maniacally and slowly approached us, the nagumo family is trying to back off but the father noticed
there are people behind them and tried to protect us from them. Everyone their started laughing
maniacally and approached the family being led by Dr. Herbert. Dr Herbert asked Yue “Yue a pop quiz do
you know who I am?” Yue tilted her head and that made Herbert laugh louder “Even though I gave you
an assignment you still don’t know!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” the Nagumo family felt that the
surrounding got scarier just because of that laugh and then while shedding his human skin he
introduced himself slowly with a voice so disgusting it can make you vomit your insides out, “I am Nyar-”
to their surprise everything vanished. They looked around and they noticed that they’re in the peak of
Mt. Fuji. They all laugh together and decided mutually it’s just a dream but then after turning around
they saw a creature with a mouth so big it can eat a person with one gulp strangely the creature seems
to be smiling. The creature then lunges at them and ate them.
