The carburetoris designed to deliver the correct fue-o-air mixture tothe engine under al operating conditions. The high idle (main) fuel and low idle fuel needles ‘on adjustable jet carburetors are sot at the factory and normally do not require further adjustment. On fixed jet carbure- tors, the low idle tue needie is also set at the factory and normally does not need. adjustment. The high idle fuel jets call brated at the factory and is not adjustable.” however, the engine ishard-starting or runs roughly at idle speeds, it may be necessary 10 adjust or service the carburetor Turing the adjusting needles in (clock wise) decreases the supply of fuel tothe carburetor. This gives a leaner fuel air mixture. Turning the adjusting nee- dles out (counterclockwise) increases. the supply of fue othe carburetor. This ‘ives a richer fuel-to-air mixture. Seting the needles midway between the lean land rich position will usualy give the best results. “NOTE: Engines with fixed mainjet car buretors, operating at altitudes above approximately 1830 m (60001), may require a special “high altitude” main jet.
