names of the animals under each of the pictures.
Consider having your learners completing this task in any of the following ways:
Before distributing the handout, read aloud the sentences.
Distribute the handout, then read aloud the sentences before your learners begin to
write.
Work on the handout together. Read aloud each line as you begin each numbered
sentence.
Extension Activity
On a separate piece of paper, have your learners write about the 12 animals
pictured on the handout, but use different animal combinations to make
comparisons. For example: “Elephants are bigger than spiders.” Encourage the
use of adjectives not used on the handout.
