Reflection :

-I chose why homework should not be a thing because it takes unnecessary time out of a students

day. Like one year I did not ever do my homework and it drastically lowered my grades and I

had to take summer school to make it up. The fact that if homework is given that it has to be

graded for everyone is not fair in my opinion. Some people actually don’r have time for it and

fail it. I’ve seen people who lose a lot of percentage in their overall grade do to homework.

According to multiple sites homework is a negative factor of a students life. I think for people

that have extra-curricular activities don’t need homework as added pressure on them. So even

when they get home an assignment is waiting for them and sometimes the due time is twelve that

night and if you start going home at like seven that leaves you five hours to do it. Then if they

procrastinate or fall asleep they might have to rush and try to finish and turn it in. The teacher

will probably think it’s half done or not correctly completed and give a failing grade to the

student even though they had a valid and legitimate reason on why they did it like that. Research

suggests that when students are pushed to handle a workload that’s out of sync with their

development level, it can lead to significant stress,- for children and their parents. Both the

National Education Association (NEA) and the National PTA (NPTA) support a standard of “10

minutes of homework per grade level” and setting a general limit on after-school studying.

Effects of too much homework (example)

In 2013, research conducted at Stanford University found that students in high-achieving

communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health

problems, a lack of balance in their lives, and alienation from society
