The following Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) for High Power Engine Run — Up duly signed by Shri Chandan Sen, GM(ATM) and Shri B. K. Goswami, GM(Ops) on 11.10.2010 is circulated for strict compliance of all ATCOs with immediate effect QUOTE Responsibility of ATC : 1) Whenever requests for High Power Engine Run-up is received by ATC, the Duty Officer (SMC) must check unserviceability of any part of operational area under NOTAM. 2) Any High Power Engine Run-up by airlines must be coordinated with Apron Control alongwith designated area to be used, type of aircraft, present position of the aircraft, duration of Engine Run-up, etc. 3) ATC shall give towing permission during night time after “Follow Me Jeep" is provided by Apron Control. However, during day time, on specific requests from Airlines “Follow Me Service” may be arranged by Apron Control 4) Engine Run-up permission shall be given only after getting clearance from “Follow Me Jeep" / “Service Engineer’ 5) Oncompletion of High Power Engine Run-up “Follow Me Jeep" will be provided if requested by Airline and Apron Control In-Charge to inspect the site. Respon: ity of Apron Control/GFS Whenever ATC request Apron Control that aircraft wants to carry out High Power Engine Run-up, Apron Control first of all should enquire from ATC the type of aircraft who wants to go for High Power Engine Run-up and following action will be taken accordingly 1) All Category ‘C’ aircrafts will have High Power Engine Run-up at the blast fence area in front of Hangar No. 19. 2) All Category ‘D’ & ‘E’ aircrafts will either have High Power Engine Run-up at physical beginning of RWY O1L or physical beginning of RWY 19R as per the safest available area. AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA. ="====reat™ Page 2 of 2 3) The Apron In-Charge before permitting to tow aircraft to the High Power Engine Run-up area should ensure that no lose material or Engineering equipments are parked around the run-up area i) Area should be free of FOD. ii) Proper lighting should be available. 4) All aircraft wants to perform High Power Engine Run-up should be tow above mentioned area and “Follow Me Jeep” should be provided. to the 5) Apron In-Charge should ensure that all ground precautions are taken care of by the concerned Engineering staff and the concerned airlines engineer should be available on the ground to monitor the arrangement made by the airlines during the High Power Engine Run-up to avoid any accident or incident. 6) For High Power Engine Run-up a special Register should be maintained where Timing, Name of Airlines and Inspection carried out alongwith concerned Airlines/Engineer before they start High Power Engine Run-up for satisfaction of ‘surrounding area, beside others should be recorded by Apron Control. 1) Adequate lighting for delineating Marshaller be ensured by respective airlines for the duration of ground run at night. 2) tis the responsibilty of respective airlines also as per their SOP to ensure area clearance for FOD and other obstructions.
