Background

The Iceborn and Fireborn have been at war with each other for millennia, with the Iceborn occupying the city-
state of Kryona, and the Fireborn occupying the kingdom of Xeron. One day, a Xeronian warrior by the name
of Daren Mendax, who was severely injured by an arrow, stumbled across a house by the outskirts of Sribury
after his entire squadron was eliminated. There, he met Karine Allium, a blind Kryonian healer. The healer
kindly tended to his wounds without asking anything in return. With his squadron gone, Daren decided to stay
in Sribury to heal his wounds. During this time, Daren and Karine grew very close, and Karine became
pregnant with Daren’s child.
One day, some Kryonians from the town became suspicious of Karine’s activity, and broke into her house
while she was away. They were enraged when they saw Daren, and took him prisoner. He was publicly
executed two weeks later.
Unable to flee the town due to her blindness, Karine was forced to stay in Sribury, under the disdainful glares
of the townspeople. She soon gave birth to a girl, who she named ‘Thiele’, after the violent storm that had
swept through the town the night of her birth. The year Thiele turned eight, her mother passed away, leaving
her as an orphan with no way to sustain herself. It was at this time that the local hunters took pity on her and
took her in. They taught her to set traps in the forest, and by the time she was thirteen, she was already skilled
in the use of a variety of weapons. Most of the townspeople were tolerant with her presence, as they knew it
was not the child’s fault for her unorthodox heritage, but others were not. The other hunters recognized her for
her skill in hunting, but the fact that she was half Fireborn meant that she would always have to face the
discrimination of the townspeople, especially those who were higher up. Despite this, Alethia knew that she
needed the money she received for the game she brought in to keep herself alive.
However, this would not last for long. One day, some merchants from Ineshire brought in a large variety
of goods for trade, including many livestock. This was very good for the town’s development, as they could
now focus on agricultural growth, which was much more reliable. To the hunters though, this was very bad
news as they slowly fell out of relevance in the town, and many decided to enlist in the royal army, where they
could put their skill to use, in the interest of the Kryonian nobility. At the time, Thiele was too young to join the
army, and she found that she now had to lie, cheat, and steal around the town in order to survive. This was a
hard life for her, and she found herself coming in close call with the authorities more times than she could
count. For two years, she lived in the streets of Sribury, afraid that the authorities would find her if she ever
returned home.
One day, the town of Sribury found itself at siege from the Xeronian army. Without its hunters, there
was no way for the people of Sribury to defend themselves, and it would take at least two days for
reinforcements to arrive from the nearest city. Thiele ran home and grabbed her bow and arrows, intent on
protecting her hometown. She climbed atop the town hall and fired arrow after arrow at the soldiers below. The
arrows which she infused with ice, were able to pierce through the Xeronians’ armor and find their mark in
each soldier’s heart. But she was soon heavily outnumbered, and was forced to escape her post as they
burned down the town hall. Alethia fired three more arrows, and reached into her quiver only to find that she
had run out. The Xeronian warrior across her sneered and lunged toward her, “You’re done for now.” She tried
to fight back with her fists, but the warrior was larger and stronger, and easily overpowered her. He pinned her
against the wall and reached for his dagger.
At that moment, Thiele felt entire body burn as fire and ice coursed simultaneously through her veins,
clashing with each other in a battle that had begun since the day she was born. Blinded by a bright white light,
she couldn’t fathom what happened next, as the pain in her body tore away at her consciousness.
The Xeronian soldier yelled as he was engulfed by an immense burst of ice and fire. A large maelstrom
of ice and fire whipped through the town, killing all the Xeronian invaders as well as the surviving and fire. A
large tornado tore through the square, killing both the Xeronian soldiers and the surviving Kryonians. The
tornado died down, and Thiele fell to the ground, unconscious.

----------------------------------------------
The next day, Thiele paid one last visit to her home, and embarked on a journey she would never return
from. Leaving the continent of Lumore forever behind, she travelled to Lennesal to escape the constant feud
between the two races, and to find a place where she could be finally be accepted.
Over the next four years, Thiele worked as a soldier-for-hire in Lennesal, fighting in battles that held no
significance to her besides the pay she received at the end.

Appearance
Thiele has long silver hair that she keeps in a braided ponytail, and crimson eyes that reflect her Xeronian
bloodline. She wears a short white dress along with a black cape, as well as a pair of gloves made from a thin,
flexible metal and black boots that end at her knees. She carries her bow and quiver of arrows on her back.
Her backup weapon is an 12-foot chain made from sharp V-shaped links that she wraps around her waist. This
can be used for medium-ranged and close-ranged combat.

Connections
She doesn’t have any friends because according to her, “Any friendship that forms on the battlefield can easily
be shattered.” She is, however, acquainted many of the nobility, though she doesn’t trust any of them.

Personality and Values

- She doesn’t care about things like honor and empathy as long as she receives a decent pay.
- She secretly cares a lot about trust and loyalty, but can’t find anyone she can depend on, and is a bit
paranoid of getting betrayed
- Any questions or remarks about her heritage are usually met with a cold glare
- She usually gets along okay with Lennesans, but avoids contact with people from Lumore

Goals:
- For now, she just wants to live her normal life, and to forget about her hybrid lineage (though this will
change depending on the story)
