Environmental problems have become increasingly serious in the context of a high growing
economy in China. A report from the Asian Development Bank in 2012 shows that no more
than 1% out of 500 cities in China have reached the air quality standards of the World Health
Organization, and 7 of the World top 10 most polluted cities are in China (Zhang and Crooks
2012).
