1.

A plan that could be otherwise carried out could be that once the caterer gets the food, add the
nuts to the pie, or be the caterer and add the nuts to the pie without any notice.
2. Taxines are a mixture of poisons from a yew tree

1. Mitotic inhibitor- A disease or poison that controls or stops mitosis from occurring in cells
2. A specific cytoskeletal element that is most susceptible to a mitotic inhibitor is cytokenisis
3. Mitosis acts as a from of cell division. This is important to animal cells, because if we had only
one cell like a prokaryote and it gets damaged or killed by a mitotic inhibitor for example, we
would die. And with only one cell, it couldn’t control all of the parts of our body, so we would
die anyway

1. Dr. Beckham did not feel or get the other symptoms as the others because she had only taken a
small bite of the pie to be respectful

1. Paclitaxel is also a poison that can be fatal, but its mechanism of action takes longer. Meaning
that she could be slightly affected with taxines, or she unknowingly had taxines and paclitaxel in
the pie as well.
2. Cancer is when a abnormal cell keeps dividing endlessly and not stopping. This can later form
tumors. These tumors are malignant and benign tumors. The discovery could be helpful,
because Dr. Beckham has mentioned that she uses paclitaxel for her breast cancer patients
3. There are three major types of cancer treatments: surgery to remove cancerous tissue,
chemotherapy, and radiation. Which treatment would paclitaxel be considered? Paclitaxel
should be considered with radiation, because the only way to get rid of these cells and kill them
for sure would be using a source of radiation even if it means potentially harming the patient.
4. Two organs that rapidly undergo cell division are the brain and lungs
5. Chemotherapeutic drugs are toxic to any rapidly dividing cell and are typically administered into
the circulatory system. Paclitaxel has been converted to a powerful and commonly prescribed
chemotherapy known as Taxol®. What would be side eff ects on healthy tissue, particularly
those discussed in Question 4 (above), after being exposed to Taxol ?
