Many parts of the earth have land for agriculture, but the lack of water makes it difficult to grow
food.

Southeast Asia is the continent that has the most land for agriculture. But currently, agriculture only
accounts 4% of gross domestic income. Specifically in Indonesia, in 2002 according to the central
statistics agency, stated that agriculture contributed 17,3% to gross domestic income. This means from
year to year income from agriculture is decreasing. For me, one of the most problem is lack of water that
makes it difficult to grow food. There are many causes that made the lack of water.

First, the dry season happens too long. One of the most common and most common causes of
drought Indonesia is the long dry season. This indicates that falls in a longer period than usual. If it is
usually rain does not go down for only about six months, but when the rain does not fall for more than six
months, the people has lost its water source as usual. The long dry season causes the water source to bless
available, while for its own use it does not change.

The lack of water absorption due to the lack of trees. Drought in Indonesia also occurred due to the
lack of water infiltration. This infiltration of water is formed when we plant trees. The roots of plants or
tree roots will absorb water that drops from rain water to the surface of the water and stores it as ground
water. Water stored by the roots of this tree will be locked underground so that we can use it when the dry
season arrives. Hence from that in areas that have many trees, the presence of water will be easier to find
when compared to areas that are only planted with few trees. So from that it is very important for us to
participate in planting trees for the availability o f water that we really need.

Lack of water sources is one of the problem that influence the lack of water. it is very natural for
drought to occur because in an area there is a lack of water resources. The water source in question is a
like spring, river ecosystems, lake ecosystems, and so on. If a remote area with such water sources is very
difficult for t hem when there is a long dry season. If the main source they have is a well, then when the
well dries, it is difficult to get other water sources. Another case when our territory is passed by a river,
close to a lake, etc. Then we will have another water source besides the well that we have. So from that
the existence of natural water sources is very important.

As we know that, on earth there is a lot of land for agriculture but agricultural products are not
comparable to the amount of land, one of the causes is lack of water. we as humans, have a role in
overcoming this problem, as mentioned the causes of lack of water is one of them there is influence from
humans. This is need awareness, there is no water is no agriculture, there is no agriculture is no food.
Whereas we are creature who need food. So that is why let’s maintain the balance of our environment.
