Schering Bridge Schering Bridge is widely used for capacitance & dissipation factor measurements. In fact Schering bridge is one of the most important of the a.c. bridges. It is extensively used in the measurement of capacitance in general , and in particular in the measurement of the properties of insulators, capacitor bushings, insulating oil and other insulating materials. This bridge is particularly suitable for small capacitance. Objective :- With the help of this bridge value of unknown capacitor can be found out. The connection is shown below. Tx Fig: Schering Brigde Cx= capacitor whose capacitance is to be determined, rx ~a series resistance representing the loss in the capacitor Cx RI =a variable non-inductive resistance in parallel with a capacitor C1 (but here parallel connection is done internally) Cl=a variable capacitor normally R2=a non-inductive resistance Atbalance condition, Cx-C3*RUR2 No of | Ri(ohm) | R2 Standard Unknown True Observation (chm) | capacitor | capacitor value of (C3) (Cx=C3.RU/R2) | Cx 1 4 ESR (1x)= R2.C1/C3 If value of C1 is provi Apparatus Table Schering Bridge trainer kit
