The Gauntlet is an extremely fun way to setup duck decoys when hunting over water. This setup will
require a boat as you are going to be out in the open. Large lakes and even oceans can be hunted this
way.

One critical component to e ectively utilizing the Gauntlet is ensuring that your boat is well concealed.
You can buy fake reeds and other vegetation to drape over your boat or even go further and make a
boat layout blind to conceal yourself.

Another option is if there are some tall reeds in the water you can pull your boat into that area and use
that natural cover to hide from approaching ducks.

Gauntlet Bene ts:

- Great for large bodies of water
- Provides in your face direct shooting

- Requires a well concealed boat

- Utilizes 2-3 dozen decoys

The Splash Zone is a decoy setup that leaves a large opening for approaching ducks to land as they

approach your spread. Essentially you are setting up your decoys in the shape of a “U” along the
shoreline.

This spread is versatile as it can be used on large or small bodies of water and can be accomplished
with as few as 6 decoys or as many as several dozen decoys.

Another reason why this setup is e ective is that you can either use natural covering if it is available or if
you have a blind setup on the shoreline you can use that as well.

Splash Zone Bene ts:

- Use as few as 6 decoys or as many as 3 dozen or more decoys
- Can use natural cover or blind
- Large landing zone
- Works on small and large bodies of water
- Great opportunity to shoot other types of waterfowl
