FILM

Film, cinema, or motion

picture, is the art of
moving images; a visual
medium that tells stories
and exposes reality.
It is the most recent art
form. It is also, by far,
the world’s most
complex, collaborative,
and costly artistic
expression.
FORMS OF
FILM
Narrative filmmaking refers to
the types of movies that tell a
story. These are the films
most widely screened in
theatres, broadcast on TV,
streamed in the internet, and
sold as DVDs and Blu-rays.
Documentary Films strictly
speaking, are non-fictional,
"slice of life" factual works
of art - and sometimes
known as cinema verite.
Also known as avant-garde,
experimental films are rare and totally
unpopular.
As the word “experimental” suggests,
this type of movie is trying something
new, different...so different that, at
first, it will cause confusion, if not
annoyance on the viewer.

the lens choice, and the camera

EDITING
This is the sequencing of the
shots in the film. Editors
decide on the order and the
duration of shots, the visual
transitions from scene to
scene, and visual effects.
SOUND
DESIGN
This deals with the sound
components, what we hear
in the film. Dialog editing,
sound effects, and music
contribute to the story.
