1509 – When Ferdinand Magellan and Francisco Serrano sailed all the way through Malacca but failed

and took refuge in Palawan and Sulu in the Philippine Islands.

1511 – Ferdinand Magellan participated in the battle of conquest in Malacca and was promoted as
captain and is baptized by the Malay by the name of Enrique de Malaca.

1512 – Ferdinand Magellan and Francisco Serrano parted ways. Serrano joined the conquest of Molucas
under the King of Portugal

1517 – Ferdinand Magellan proposed to King Manuel I his plan to reach Molucas to sail beyond the
tordecillas line of demarcation that is the territory of Spain.

March 22 1518 – Ferdinand Magellan and Faleiro were assigned as captain under the order of Santiago
with the mission of discovering new demarcation or new route towards the spice island.
