 Introduction
The 4th floor engineering building of the University of Science and Technology of
Southern Philippines is the selected area of this group to be evaluated and to
design a ventilation and air conditioning system. While the building’s floor area
and height from the floor is designed to be uniformed from floor to floor the 4th
floor of the engineering building has a special case since two laboratories were
constructed at the said floor with two minor offices for the publication and
infrastructure planning and faculties development beside the printing press. While
the total of the rooms in this floor is the same as the other floors with six (6) major
rooms and three (3) minor rooms, the calculations and cooling load of this floor
will be different from other floors since the two (2) laboratories and the printing
press has different arrangement inside. Photos from the team’s site visit will be
shown below for more clarification and to help us imagine what the building has
to offer.

Project Description

Fourth(4th) floor of the Engineering building of the University of Science and

Technology of Southern Philippines composing of the building forty-two(42) and forty-
three(43). Considering only the rooms for the whole fourth(4th) floor the area of each rooms in
building forty-two are 168.35𝑚2 and building forty-two(42) has four(4) rooms which means
the total floor area for building forty-two(42) is 673.4𝑚2 . Building forty-three has two(2)
classrooms with 109.48𝑚2 floor are and building forty-three(43) has two(2) rooms which
results to a total floor area of 219.96𝑚2 . Considering the data gathered we can now
conclude that the total floor area of the fourth(4th) floor considering only the rooms is
892.36𝑚2 .
The ceiling height of each room has a standard of three(3) meters. Building forty-
three(43) is composed of two(2) rooms with one(1) room being the printing press.
Building forty-three(43) equipments/materials to be considered are as follows:
 One(1) ID printer
 One(1) fax machine
 One(1) photocopier machine
 Three(3) cabinets
 Six(6) tables
Building forty-two(42) equipments/materials to be considered are as follows:
 One(1) steel drawer
 One(1) steel locker
 One(1) control system for wifi
 Two(2) rooms with thirty-one(31) computer set and cubicles for speech
laboratory
 Four(4) cabinets with different sizes
