A Haunted Past Memory

I
was about twelve-years old. I remember it was a cold night in December. I went to bed
early at that night because I had to get up early, as I was a student of Grade 9th. I completed
my usual study task, and slept in my warm and cozy bed.
A little while after turning the lights off, I woke up to a noise in my room. I heard what sounded
like a footstep in the room with me. As I listened it seemed to get louder. This frightened me. As
I turned the bedside light on the noise stopped. I looked out the window because I was listening
the drip sound of rain .it wasn’t raining. This made me horrified. As I turned back, I saw a dirty
man, with brown beard and long ugly hairs appeared in front of me. I froze with fright for a moment
but managed to muster enough courage to move away. I stepped out of room. when I stepped on
the top step, I slipped and rolled downstairs like a ball. It was the most miserable experience. My
legs hurt, and I had a bump on my forehead. I glanced back in the direction of figure but this was
vanished, but I felt that something is walking beside me. I was totally scared and screamed at the
top of my voice. Someone switched the light on. I thought the figure I had seen had appeared again,
but the relief came on me, when I saw my mother is there. I rushed toward her and hugged her.
Soon I had calmed down but I couldn’t sleep many days after this scary event.
